Use jets of water to cool the containers to prevent product decomposition and the development of substances potentially hazardous for health. Always wear full fire prevention gear. Collect extinguishing water to prevent it from draining into the sewer system. Dispose of contaminated water used for extinction and the remains of the fire according to applicable regulations.

Hardhat with visor, fireproof clothing (fireproof jacket and trousers with straps around arms, legs and waist), work gloves (fireproof, cut proof and antistatic), a depressurized mask with facemask covering the whole of the operator’s face or a self-respirator (self-protector) in the event of large quantities of fume.

8.2 Exposure Controls

As the use of adequate technical equipment must always take priority over personal protection equipment, make sure that the workplace is well aired through effective local aspiration or bad air vent. If such operations do not make it possible to keep the concentration of the product below the permitted workplace exposure thresholds a suitable respiratory tract protection must be used. See product label for hazard details during use. Personal protection equipment must comply with the rules in force indicated below.

Protect hands with category II (ref. Directive 89/686/EEC and standard EN 374) work gloves, such as those in PVC, neoprene, nitrile or equivalent. The following should be considered when choosing work glove material: degradation, breakage times and permeation. Work glove resistance to preparations should be checked before use, as it can be unpredictable. Gloves’ limit depends on the duration of exposure.

Wear protective airtight goggles (ref. Standard EN 166).

Wear category II professional long-sleeved overalls and safety footwear (ref. Directive 89/686/CEE and standard EN 344). Wash body with soap and water after removing overalls.

If the threshold value (if available) for one or more of the substances present in the preparation for daily exposure in the workplace or to a fraction established by the company’s prevention and protection service is exceeded, wear a mask with an B or universal filter, the class (1, 2 or 3) of which must be chosen according to the limit concentration of use (ref. Standard EN 141).

The use of respiratory tract protection equipment, such as masks like that indicated above, is necessary to reduce worker exposure in the absence of technical measures. The protection provided by masks is in any case limited.

Fields of Application

EcoCera Soft Wax is a water-soluble, breathable, sacrificial product used to create a wax finish that can help protect wood, plaster, brick, stone, stucco, potassium silicate (mineral) paints and consolidated lime paint finishes. As with all types of wax products, water or solvent soluble, waxes are water resistant and are not recommended for exterior ground surfaces heavily exposed to water and direct sunlight.

Best use recommendations for interior surfaces include walls, trims, floors, furniture, etc. For exterior, EcoCera Soft Wax is recommended primarily for
vertical surfaces when in direct exposure to the outdoor elements. Semi-exposed or protected areas may be treated the same as interior surfaces.

EcoCera Soft Wax can be removed by very hot water, steam, denatured alcohol or acetone. Removal processes may alter or damage underlying lime finishes or faux effects.

Product Features

EcoCera Soft Wax, unlike paste wax, is easily applied by brush, roller, sponge, or absorbent cloth. In contrast to paste waxes, EcoCera Soft Wax significantly reduces application time, is odor free, and does not off-gas dangerous toxic solvents typical of paste waxes.

Application on absorbent surfaces such as unsealed wood, brick, stone, plaster and stucco will not alter color tonality more than 5 – 10% in most cases.

EcoCera Soft Wax can be applied on sealed and unsealed surfaces. Product can be hand polished or mechanically polished as is typical for paste wax finishes.

EcoCera Soft Wax is an Eco-Sustainable product as described in the Eco Category description.

General Application Instructions

Brush, Roller & Applications

VERY ABSORBENT SURFACES: Stone |  Tile  |  Cement

Apply EcoCera Soft Wax abundantly with a roller, brush, rag or sponge directly onto the surface to be waxed. On stone, tile, and cement it is suggested to apply wet on damp. Meaning while the 1st coat is still damp, apply a 2nd coat within 15 – 20 minutes of 1st application. This has to occur before 1st coat application dries. Allow to dry for 8 hours. Polish with a soft cloth if desired to create a lustrous surface.

ABSORBENT SURFACES: Wood | Honed Stone | Plasters

Apply EcoCera Soft Wax abundantly with a roller, brush, rag or sponge directly onto the surface to be waxed. On polished stone & plasters and raw wood, it is suggested to wet rag or sponge EcoCera Soft Wax on areas immediately after application to ensure even absorption and coverage on the treated surfaces. Allow to dry for 8 hours. Polish with a soft cloth if desired to create a lustrous surface.

NON OR SLIGHTLY ABSORBENT SURFACES: Varnished Wood | Polished Stone | Sealed Plasters

For polished stone, varnished or sealed wood and plaster surfaces, work the wax onto the surface of the finish, rubbing lightly in a back and forth motion of the surface to achieve an even coat. On varnished surfaces one (1) coat should suffice when applied in this manner. A 2nd coat with spot application can be applied if needed. Allow EcoCera Soft Wax to completely dry, then using a soft rag, polish the surface in a circular motion to achieve the desired polish.

When applying onto unsealed, absorbent wood or masonry surfaces applying EcoCera Soft Wax will deepen color tones both on wood or masonry by 5 – 10%. Use a soft rag or towel to polish the surface, working in circular motions to achieve the desired polish.

Before applying EcoCera Soft Wax, stir contents in bucket before initializing product application.

Brush, Roller, Rags, or Sponges.

Tool Cleaning

Brush, roller, rags, or sponges should be cleaned immediately after use with warm water and a mild detergent or dish soap. EcoCera Soft Wax can be removed from dried surfaces by hot water and detergent, scrubbing vigorously, or denatured alcohol or acetone.

Drying Time

Allow a drying time between coats of at least 8 hours. With lower temperature and humidity more time may be needed.

Consumption / Coverage

Approximately 1,700 ft2 /158 mt2 – 2,700 ft2 / 251 mt2 per 20 liters bucket, or 85 ft2 / 8 mt2 – 135 ft2 / 13 mt2 per 1 liter bucket. Determine exact consumption by performing a test on the surface to be treated.

1, 5, 10 and 20 liter plastic buckets.

Store in a cool, dry and protected place from frost. Close the open containers with care. Store liquids only in plastic buckets.

Do not apply any products in direct exposure to strong/hot sunlight, rain, high humidity (mist) or in the presence of strong wind. Beware of the danger of frost overnight. If applied by roller or sprayer, protect surrounding surfaces as necessary. Protect eyes and skin from splashes of paint. Cover glass, ceramic, natural stone, brick, metal, wood, painted surfaces and glazed tiles. Clean affected areas immediately with water. Prominent elements of the building (cornices, parapets, etc.,) should be treated with skill, covering flashings, gutters, copper coatings, etc. …

Do not work in air temperature lower than 10°C / 50°F and not above 31°C / 88°F. Clean work tools with water immediately after use. Keep out of reach of children. In case of contact with eyes and skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. In cases of consumption, consult a doctor or call the CDC Poison Center (see Safety Data Sheet).
