Charming Old World feel or Modern aesthetic, you decide.
Handcrafted in Italy, Classico Limewash® is an authentic slaked-like paint giving you artistic freedom to update your home while still being able to keep the warmth of the brick exposed.
“I have nothing against natural brick. I think it’s beautiful. But I am a sucker for that European limewashed brick.” – Lauren of @Bless’er House
This unique slaked-lime paint is designed to be an easy-to-use product that can be distressed within the first couple of days of application, allowing you to test and create the look you want.
Romabio only creates authentic mineral and lime-based paints, colored with natural pigments, and Classico Limewash is no exception. It is made from Dolomite-sourced lime from northern Italy that is slaked, aged like a fine wine, and then specially formulated to create instant patina, allowing you time to distress it.
Designed for unpainted, absorbent brick, it can be washed off for an antique effect exposing as little or as much brick as you want. Authentic lime wash paint is breathable and calcifies to unpainted masonry surfaces becoming like a rock, just as hard, yet still allowing moisture to evaporate, working naturally with the surface.
It is made to last, low maintenance, and patinas over time..
Classico Limewash is formulated to last and durability but to protect and you’re your beautiful new Exterior limewash paint, we recommend applying our Mineral Shield for waterproofing and no chalking.
The best part is, it’s removable! There’s no stress when deciding the color or look that you want.
Romabio specially formulated Classico Limewash to be washed off or distressed in the first 2-days following application so you can easily test it before deciding your final look. Touch ups are easy because of its very flat finish. It is not recommended as a solid finish as it will wash off over time depending on weather and exposure. If you’re looking for a solid, permanent finish, choose one of our beautiful Masonry Paints.
Classico Limewash is unlike any other paint or process.
Lime wash paint has been used in Europe for centuries, but other paints and processes like the German Schmear technique are much more difficult to apply and you may have issues with the brick or stone. In addition hydrated lime will not give you the same beauty and ease of use as our limewash paint.
In Roman times, mineral-based, exterior lime wash paints were applied everywhere and it took hundreds of years, if not centuries to create the beautiful whitewash effect. With Classico Limewash you can achieve it overnight!

Easy Application & Low Maintenance
Because Classico Limewash is highly permeable and breathable, it calcifies to the brick for maximum durability and will continue to patina over time, lasting decades without having to repaint or maintain the finish. Due to the high pH of the paint, it is naturally mold-resistant and has a high UV and fade resistance allowing the color to keep its depth and quality over time.
This limewash application is designed to be a one-coat process with no need for an additional primer, the application is easy and efficient.

Results are best when applied with our handmade Large Masonry Brush or you can use a paint sprayer.
And remember, it is removable!
One of the added benefits of using our authentic slaked-lime product is that, unlike traditional latex paint, Classico Limewash can be wiped or washed off immediately after application for a no-stress, no commitment purchase.
With the use of a high force pressure washer, the entire application on the exterior of a home can be removed up to 2 days following the initial application. This allows you to test the product on your brick or masonry surface first. We highly recommend test strips and swatching areas, ensuring you fall in love with the product and color before tackling the entire surface area.
Tools of the Trade & Proper Dilution
Classico Limewash is a concentrated slaked-lime paint product. You have to add water to dilute it and mix it in a separate mixing bucket into a paint-like consistency. It’s a very simple process and allows you to create a custom thick or thin paint.
When diluting in clean water, remember that it’s easier to add water later, so start with less water and mix your way to your ideal consistency.
Product needs to be diluted with 50 – 70% water.
Classico Limewash is available in these bucket sizes:
1Liter: 80 – 100 SQ FT
2.5 Liters: 200 – 250 SQ FT
15 Liters: 1200 – 1500 SQ FT
