6 Elements of the Perfect Summer Home

Ideas for refreshing your home inside and out

Summer is a great time to update your home design. The sun is out, and you might have additional time at home due to a more relaxed schedule. To help you create your perfect summer home, I’m sharing 6 unique design elements that I love.

#1 Get fun outdoor lights

This is easy. Add string lights and lots of them! Lighting can instantly transform an outdoor space. String lights are easy to put up and relatively inexpensive. In her recent blog post Lauren Shaver of Bless’er House shares some great installation tips. If there is one thing you can do this summer, it’s this!

#2 Create an outdoor kitchen

The word “kitchen” might sound overwhelming. If you’re anything like me, you have a very small deck or outdoor space. So, how do you create the perfect outdoor kitchen? First, the purpose of this project is just to make an outdoor space for cooking! If all you have room for is a grill, then get a grill with multi-cooking options like this one. If you have a little more space, add an outdoor refrigerator or a cabinet to keep your grilling tools and serving dishes within reach. If your outdoor kitchen is in close proximity to your indoor kitchen, you won’t need as much, but if the two aren’t close, I recommend you keep all meal prep/cooking items close by to reduce your back and forth!

#3 Let Romabio help you find a PRO paint applicator

Summer is a great time to take advantage of the season (especially those in Northern climates) and paint the exterior of your home. Don’t know where to start? We highly recommend using an experienced PRO paint applicator especially if you have a 2+ story home. You don’t want to rent scaffolding or have your loved one get hurt while on a roof, and we make finding a PRO easy. We have a huge network of experienced PROs and we can connect you to one in your area by filling out this form. Or, if you have a smaller, one-story home and want to attempt DIY, be sure to watch our how-to videos.

Outdoor flowers#4 Plants, flowers… outside AND inside!

I love buying new plants each season. Yes, I’m that person who just buys new stuff because I haven’t figured out how to replant anything! I have a small deck and a lot of shade in my yard, so replanting can be a challenge. I find that investing in a basket already styled with multiple plants and flowers gives everything a refresh. Another fun idea is hanging plants for the inside. I would love to try some of the ones listed here.

#5 Decorate with lots of color

Just like adding the plants and flowers to your home, adding bright colors and fun patterns is perfect for summer. You could go with orange, pink or yellow! I’m thinking of getting this one as it says it all.

#6 White on white

We love whites here at Romabio, especially since Classico Limewash personifies a whitewash wall. The great thing about whites is you can usually match them and add more whites to them. You can achieve a refreshing and simple summer look just by adding whites to your room! I bought three of these lightweight white blankets for my living room because, even in the summer, I still like to snuggle up on the couch. You can also refresh a room by adding a white slipcover on a chair or putting down a white rug to brighten up your space.

I hope these ideas inspire you to create the perfect elements for your home this summer. And don’t forget, once you’ve done all that decorating be sure to have family and friends over!

Ciao for now,

Leslie
