I started my Spring cleaning and brought home a couple of buckets of our Algae and Moss Cleaner. Initially, I planned to clean the windowsills and back deck, but I realized my front steps had heavy green moss growth. It wasn’t in a romantic English countryside way, but rather an overgrown swamp look. It was time to clean it.
I was excited because I knew what this product could do. It’s an amazing, easy-to-use, eco-friendly cleaner for the outdoors.
Other cleaners, like those that are peroxide-based or bleach-based, only change the color of the growth and do not remove it all the way to the root. You could also pressure wash without a cleaner and see if the growth comes off, but that process only removes the exposed growth and does not remove the underlying roots, so it will quickly grow back.
That’s where Romabio Algae and Moss Cleaner is perfect. It can be used on any outdoor surface that has algae and moss growth and naturally removes it at the roots. Here are five outdoor surfaces where you can effectively use Romabio Algae and Moss Cleaner:
- Patios and Decks: Perfect for removing algae and moss from wooden, concrete, or stone surfaces.
- Driveways and Walkways: Keep these areas clean and safe by eliminating slippery algae and moss.
- Fences and Walls: Ideal for maintaining the appearance of wooden, brick, or stone fences and walls.
- Garden Furniture: Restore the look of outdoor furniture by removing unsightly growths.
- Plant Containers: Safely remove moss build up from any outdoor planter box or container.
It is the only cleaner that can be safely applied to a pre-painted surface with Romabio Classico Limewash and our other mineral-based paints. It does not cause discoloration.
The good news is that applying Romabio Algae and Moss Cleaner is very easy. You can watch this video or see the steps below for how to apply.
Step 1: Use a pump sprayer or just a brush and apply it generously to the surface. The key is the surface must be dry before you apply. It may be foaming, but this is normal. Let the product soak into the surface and wait.
- Helpful Tip: If your surface is vertical and the cleaner could drip off, it is best to back brush after you apply it for maximum effect.
Step 2: Wait 2-3 days. You will see the algae or moss die, and it may turn orange or brownish in color.
Step 3: Remove any remaining debris with a brush or power washer/garden hose, depending on how much pressure you need.
And that’s it! Now my steps look amazing! Check out this impressive before and after! But don’t just take my word for it, watch this Instagram Reel posted by Alison Shemwell of @shemwellspaces.
To prevent further algae and moss growth, we will apply Romabio Mineral Shield as it is an invisible topcoat solution for porous, exterior surfaces to repel water. We highly recommend it if you’ve painted it with Classico Limewash as it’ll protect the finish.
Romabio Algae and Moss Cleaner stands out as the eco-friendly choice for outdoor cleaning. It not only removes algae and moss at the roots but is also safe for use on pre-painted surfaces with Romabio Classico Limewash and other mineral-based paints. Unlike harsher chemicals, it does not cause discoloration, making it the ideal solution for maintaining the beauty and integrity of your home’s exterior.
