How Color Drenching Transforms Your Space

In the world of Interior Design, trends come and go, but some are more impactful due to their simplicity. Color Drenching is a design trend you’ve probably seen on social media. This bold approach involves saturating a room with a single color, creating a striking, monochromatic look that can transform any space. If this trend speaks to you, and you’re looking to add color to your home – weather in a neutral palette or taking a more dramatic approach – Romabio offers the perfect products to achieve a stunning color-drenched interior with added texture.

What is Color Drenching?

Color drenching is all about commitment. Instead of accent walls or contrasting hues, this trend embraces the use of one color applied to every wall, the ceiling, and trim, enveloping the room in a sea of monochromatic beauty. The result is a stunning atmosphere that can evoke various moods depending on the color used. From serene and calming neutrals and greens to bold and invigorating blues, the possibilities are endless. By adding textural elements with tinted, interior limewashes, you can also incorporate a modern-rustic element.

The key is to use the same color.

The Perfect Color Drenching Duo

To achieve the perfect color-drenched look, it’s crucial to use high-quality paints that offer depth and richness. Romabio’s Low Lustre Interior/ Exterior Paint and Satin Interior/ Exterior Paint are exceptional choices for this design trend. And for a limewashed finish, Romabio offers a choice of Venetian Glaze and Velatura Mineralwash.

All Romabio paints are custom tintable, allowing you to create the exact shade you envision for your space.

Adding Texture with Velatura Mineralwash

While the monochromatic scheme is the hallmark of color drenching, adding a subtle texture can elevate the design even further. Romabio’s Velatura Mineralwash is a fantastic product for this purpose. By applying Velatura Mineralwash to a single accent wall, you can create a limewashed effect that adds depth and interest while staying within the same color palette. This technique not only enhances the visual appeal but also brings a tactile element to any space.

The photo above, is a great example by DIY Design blogger, Brooke Cribbs, who’s media room was featured in Farmhouse Style Magazine. Color used is Romabio Navy Steel. Read her guest blog post, “Mighty Mineral Paints,” for more details.

How to Achieve a Color-Drenched Look with Romabio Paints

  1. Choose Your Color: Start by selecting the color that best suits the mood you want to create. Check out both our Whites and Neutrals, and our Curated Colors Brochures. Remember, Romabio paints are custom tintable too, so you can get the perfect shade for your project if one of ours does not suit your needs. Ask your local, Independent Paint Retailer that sells Romabio products, to custom tint it for you.
  1. Prep Your Space: Ensure the surfaces are clean and primed with Romabio MicroGrip Primer.
  1. Apply the Base Color: Begin with Romabio Low Lustre Interior/ Exterior Paint for walls and ceilings.
  1. Highlight with Satin Finish: Use Romabio Satin Interior / Exterior Paint on trim, doors, and other architectural features like molding to add a subtle touch of gloss and highlight the details.
  1. Add Texture with Velatura Mineralwash: Choose an accent wall and apply Velatura Mineralwashin the same color to create a limewashed effect. This adds an interesting twist to your color-drenched room while maintaining a stunning, monochromatic scheme.

Color Drenching is a bold, beautiful trend that can transform any space into a monochromatic masterpiece.

If you’re not fully comfortable painting all surfaces the same color, here is a great example of how to achieve a similar look while keeping your ceiling white. Longtime DIY design blogger, Lauren Shaver of the Bless’er House Blog transformed her living room with Romabio paints in Blue Ridge Parkway – a deep, soulful blue she curated for us. Lauren has always been brave with color. Her almost color drenched dining room has been featured in Better Homes and Magazines.
