One of my favorite parts of this job is catching our finishes out in the wild. Sometimes I do that on purpose, as I genuinely enjoy seeing the products work. But it also happens that I just run an errand, walk into a space, and find that hand-troweled texture I’d recognize anywhere, anytime.
Being a small, family-owned business right here in Atlanta makes each of those little moments count. I’ll try to describe what drives a few of my impressions, and if I fail, the pictures are worth 1000 words anyway.
Pilates + fashion + Marmorino GM

SculptHouse is a boutique fitness studio in Buckhead, founded in 2015, that takes Lagree and cardio intervals to the next level- think pilates, elevated. They have also built something unique by weaving fashion into their fitness concept with an on-site retail storefront. For their recent refresh, they turned to our friends at @harper_house_LLC, a locally based design studio, who then used Romabio Marmorino GM throughout the space. The walls came out quietly textured, the exact kind of backdrop that lets the brand and the logo do the talking. I love how a finish can almost disappear and enrich everything around it at the very same time.
Contemporary Italian dining under Velatura Mineralwash
Then there’s Füm, tucked inside the gorgeous new Stella Star Metals building and easily one of the city’s most exciting restaurant openings. @Harper_house_LLC worked their magic here too, layering Velatura Mineralwash in a mix of soft neutrals and richer jewel tones. The result is tough to describe until you’re standing in it. I’d say it feels cocooning, atmospheric; they somehow succeeded to make it airy and intimate all at once. And the walls totally feel like part of the mood, you just can’t resist ordering the homemade pasta while you’re soaking it in.

Faced Facial Studio
I might sound biased but Faced Buckhead is really worth a visit. The studio was designed to feel like an urban escape, and our Marmorino Plaster on the walls delivers exactly that. Such a beautiful, gentle texture. There’s a sense of calm that settles in the second you walk through the door, and I can see how it nurtures the soul too. For me, this finish made the interior look like it belongs to a different place and time, so being there feels like escaping from reality for a while. It’s one of those spaces that give you a proper excuse to treat yourself.

Persian plaster at Rumi’s Kitchen
Is it even possible anymore to talk about Atlanta without mentioning its new Persian fairytale? Nestled inside the gorgeous new Stella Star Metals building, Rumi’s Kitchen is one of our city’s most exciting new restaurant openings, and our plaster system fits right into their story. The result is that particular aura which magically complements everything happening at the table. Almost like it knows when to step back and let the food and the welcome lead.

Four Spaces, One Family of Finishes
What strikes me about these places is how distinct they all are. They share the same family of finishes, yet ooze completely different feelings. That’s one part of this job I never get tired of. I think I have seen it all and still get surprised by how lime-based plaster works with the light, the surface below, the scale, and the purpose of a room, and how it sets until it truly belongs.
These are only a handful of the spaces our Atlanta community has brought to life with Romabio finishes. Every project teaches us something new, and every one turns out a little different from the last. If you’re dreaming up something of your own (or already knee-deep in it!), we’d love to be part of the story.
