(photos of before, during, and after application)
We have two NEW products – a cleaner and invisible, protective topcoat that will help fix algae, moss, and mold issues, plus, water, staining, and chalking, all while extending the life of your beautiful Romabio paint application.
First, we have our new Algae and Moss Cleaner:
- Naturally kills algae, moss, and mold at the roots
- Will not discolor the paint, unlike other products
- Works on any exterior surface including porches, patios, awnings, and fences
- Easy to apply with a pump sprayer or brush
- Natural solution, safe to use around plants, people, and pets
And next, we have our new Mineral Shield:
- Water and stain proofs exterior porous surfaces
- Invisible topcoat easily applied
- Prevents natural patina, or weathering created by water
- Reduces the growth of algae, moss, and mold
- Repels water droplets but still allows water vapor to pass through for breathability
- Significantly reduces staining from clay, dirt, and grass
- Prevents chalking on interior fireplaces painted with Romabio
- Easy to apply with a pump sprayer or brush
- Natural, eco-friendly solution that does not seal the surface
These products will solve issues that water can create. If you have an area of your home that is painted with Classico Limewash and is weathering faster than other areas, it is due to actual weather! (Get it – weathering due to weather…insert laugh here).
But seriously, one factor that causes Classico Limewash to patina is the force or pressure in which rain and water hit the surface and then dry. If there is a protective topcoat, the process is slowed down significantly.
Or, if you have that colorful dirt and clay at the bottom of your walls (especially here in Georgia with red clay), then a protective topcoat resists the dirt which means less cleaning those areas.
And that annoying green looking stuff that grows on your exterior walls, decks, patios, or anywhere that is exposed to rain, you can now get rid of it with a natural product that kills at the root. Most products (including bleach) do not kill the roots and only change the color making you think you have gotten rid of the growth. With our Algae and Moss Cleaner, it won’t discolor any painted surface and kills the roots, so it lasts longer.
Use the two products together for the most preventative solution if you have algae and moss growth! Here are three simple steps on how to apply.
Step #1. Apply the Algae and Moss Cleaner to a dry surface and wait 48 hours until you wash off the debris.
Step #2. Wash off remaining debris and clean the surface to be painted, then touch up or paint as needed.
Step #3. Wait until the painted surface is dry (usually overnight), then apply Mineral Shield as an invisible topcoat in areas that need extra water and stain protection (like at the bottom of walls).
As one of our PROs said, “These products are a game-changer!”
And you know why, because not only will they solve these issues, but we’ve created them in the most eco-friendly, natural way just like all our other products. We carry only safe products that you can trust.
These products are currently available for purchase at local independent retailers. Find one on our Where To Buy page or if you need help, email us at [email protected]. (They will be coming soon for online purchase!)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Which Romabio paint products does Mineral Shield work on?
The Mineral Shield can be applied to any exterior Romabio paint application including Classico Limewash, Lime Slurry, Masonry Paints, and Low Lustre Exterior on siding. It can also be applied to porous masonry surfaces that are unpainted like natural concrete.
How much Mineral Shield do I need for my home?
One coat of Mineral Shield covers 200-300 sq/ft per 1 gallon. Calculate the exterior square footage that you want to coat and divide it by 200. Remember, you don’t have to apply it to all areas so most likely you’ll apply it to shaded areas and the bottom portion of the wall. For example, a 2,000 exterior sq/ft home (walls that would be painted), you’d probably only apply it to half of the home and would need about 5 gallons.
How often will I have to reapply the Algae and Moss Cleaner?
This is hard to say because it depends on environmental factors like sun exposure, but most other products in heavy growth areas usually only last 1-2 years, while Romabio Algae and Moss Cleaner will last much longer until you must reapply.
Can I apply Algae and Moss Cleaner to a painted fence that isn’t Romabio paint?
Yes! Algae and Moss Cleaner can be applied on any exterior surface. Way better than using bleach that could kill your grass and plants!
How long do these products last?
That is too hard to say as depends on your location, surface, weather, and other environmental factors. These products last years and are the safest way to extend and protect the life of your Romabio paint application because they are natural and breathable, just like Romabio paints.
I thought mold was not supposed to grow on your paint products because of the high pH content?
On areas that dry out easily, it’s hard for mold to form (interior or exterior) on our high pH mineral-based products, but areas that stay wet and the water remains for long periods (like stoops, stair risers, the lower half of a brick wall on the north or shaded side of a building), the pH of the painted surface does not stay elevated because water’s pH at 6.5-8 causing it to drop to the pH of the water present.
Stoops are notoriously the worst. They are in essence huge mounds of dirt and clay encapsulated by brick that just soak up water and get rained on repeatedly. Romabio Algae and Moss Cleaner can naturally kill the roots of the growth, then followed by an application of Romabio Mineral Shield, the water can no longer absorb and penetrate the bricks or lime from the top down. Nor will water droplets with dirt or clay be able to stain, because of the protective coating not allowing it to penetrate.
Is it safe for my birdbaths?
Yes, Romabio Algae and Moss Cleaner is safe and could be applied to your birdbath if the surface is dry. Just follow directions on the back of the container and follow up with a coat of Mineral Shield to protect against future growth.
Happy Painting,
